Concerns over restrictions trigger surge in reproductive care

As a result, demand for contraceptives and emergency reproductive care sharply rose. Many telehealth providers saw a surge in demand for contraception, with Wisp, an online provider of sexual and reproductive health services, reporting a 600% increase in abortion pill orders. Similarly, « Hey Jane », a telemedicine clinic, experienced a 27% rise in requests for medication abortion.
According to the Planned Parenthood press release on November 21, 2024, the organization experienced a sharp increase in appointments for preventative and reproductive health services following the Trump election. Vasectomy appointments rose by an extraordinary 1200%, IUD placements increased by 760%, and birth control implant appointments climbed by 350%. Additionally, appointments for gender-affirming care grew by 140%. These spikes highlight widespread concerns among patients about potential restrictions on reproductive health care and access to gender-affirming treatments under the incoming administration’s policies.
Trump’s shifting stance and public skepticism
Trump’s track record on reproductive rights has left many skeptical. Despite recent reassurances, his comments raised concerns.
