The Kamala Harris campaign references to Gen Z. In the midst of the American presidential campaigns, all eyes were on the $1 billion campaign of the Democratic president. It was impossible not to see it, the images and blancs were doing the rounds of the social networks. In July, Harris opened her tik tok account and has posted frequently since the start of her campaign. She uses humor and serious subjects throughout her videos.

She has used all the means at her disposal, especially in her fight to connect communities. Since August she had already won over LGBT+ community by making links with this summer’s trend for queer and pop culture, « Brat Summer ». This logo refers to Charli XCX’s best-selling album in the community.

More recently, a number of celebrities have joined the discourse. These celebrities include Beyonce, Lady Gaga, American rapper Cardi B, singer Gracie Abrams, Jennifer Lopez and many others. There’s a real desire to bring the Gen Z in the political debate by linking pop stars to the World of politics. On Friday, the democrat contestant posted a message that spoke directly to Gen Z : « I love your generation ». She also linked it to real debates, such as the growing attention of young people to the issue of global warming. Kamala talked about the battles that this generation is fighting: inequalities and school shootings, in a context of promising safety and putting an end to the legalization of weapons.

She also rallied the black community to her cause, not only as a black woman, but also by bringing in activist figures such as Michele Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and by posting clear videos on the case of Amber Nicole Thurman. « We will never stop saying Amber Nicole Thurman’s name and we will not let her be just a statistic », a very strong message for the community and also in a context of Black Lives Matter.
