Iran’s Supreme Leader rejects Trump’s proposal for nuclear negotiations, exacerbating tensions
On 12 March, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, firmly rejected any form of negotiation with the United States over a nuclear agreement. This decision follows a letter sent by US President Donald Trump, delivered to date by UAE diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash to Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi. Trump had revealed that he had sent a proposal to Khamenei, offering nuclear negotiations while threatening potential military action. However, Khamenei rejected the offer, calling it a ‘deception’, stressing, ‘When we know they won't keep their commitments, what's the point of negotiating?’
