Ursula von der Leyen: Prospects for a new candidacy
Since taking office on December 1st, 2019, Ursula von der Leyen has served as head of the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union. As the first woman to serve as President, she opened the way for greater diversity and representation within European institutions.
Her term in office has been marked by a series of major challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, international relations and Europe's economic recovery. As her mandate draws to an end, much speculation surrounds her potential new candidacy for a second term at the head of the European Commission.
